House Renovation Weeks 14 & 15: Deck!

It's been a while since my last post. We've been busy around here with non house related events, such as my brother's wedding in Atlanta. Now that I'm back I thought I would update everyone on what has been going on at the house over the past couple of weeks.

Week 14

MONDAY

They installed the large and last window on the side of the house. This window bring in so much light into the dining room/kitchen.

TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY - Didn't get over to the house to take pictures, busy getting ready to go to the wedding.

THURSDAY

Aaron and the Dads started work on our back deck. The side stairs also got demolished.

FRIDAY

More work on the deck today.

WEEKEND

They finished building the frame of the deck and installing the Azek decking on the main part of the deck. Also the contractor came on Saturday to dig the trench so that the electrician can put the wires underground.

Week 15

MONDAY & TUESDAY - Again busy getting ready for the wedding, no pictures these days.

WEDNESDAY

The electrical was run to the house and the trench was filled back in. More trim work completed and the side porch was built. The last of the outside demo was completed by taking up the slate walkway.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY - We did stop by on Thursday before we left and our doors had been delivered, sorry no pictures. The rest of the week we were having fun traveling down to Atlanta for the wedding.

Musical Birthday Cards by Apsenbox Review

Now with school back in session it will not be long before the birthday party invites start to arrive. I recently got to review a set of musical birthday cards from Apsenbox. These cards are a great value, you get 24 cards for $20, less than a $1 a card. I'm usually running out last minute before a birthday party to grab a card and spending $3-4, this really adds up over the course of the year.

This set of cards has both gender themed and gender neutral cards. My kids love musical cards, if I were to buy those cards (which I rarely do) they would cost me $6-8 each. These cards are going to make my life that much easier, which is always a plus. #birthdaycards

Spruce Bay Insulated Picnic Basket Review

After Spruce Bay sent me the beautiful tray a few weeks ago, they followed up by sending me a very useful insulated picnic basket. I was excited to receive this because I've been looking for one of these for a while. The really helpful feature of this basket is that it is collapsible, which means really easy to store.

The inside of the basket is insulated so it is perfect for both cold and hot meals on the go.

There are to wire structures on either side of the basket, you push them into place to create the full size basket. This was pretty easy to do and with food inside these wires stay put.

I also love the padding on the handles which makes carrying the basket a breeze.

Looking forward to many BBQs, picnics and fun outings with this basket.

House Renovation Week 12: Mudroom

Three months since we started this journey and we now have a completely framed house.

MONDAY - Busy getting my little ones ready for school, didn't get over to the house.

TUESDAY

The platform for the mudroom was built. The floor in the back was fixed so that it is all on one level now and the girls old closet door was removed.

WEDNESDAY

The walls for the mudroom were framed and they started to frame the wall between the office and living room.

THURSDAY

The mudroom roof was framed, the living room wall framing was completed and the rough plumbing was started.

FRIDAY

To finish up the week the new opening from the mudroom to the kitchen was framed and the roof was closed in.

Bella Vino White Wine Glass Review

I recently received two beautiful lead-free crystal wine glasses from Bella Vino to test. I personally do not drink wine, but my mom and father-in-law do. I do on the other hand appreciate well designed and attractive home wares for entertaining guests. These glasses are delicate and would be beautiful in any home.

When you hold these glasses in your hand they are so light you almost can't tell that you are holding anything.

The consensus from my father-in-law and mom are that these glasses are great, especially when they have wine in them. They even made it through hand washing, other delicate glasses in the past haven't fared so well. #drinkbellavino
