House Renovation Week 2: Raise the Roof

Sorry for the delay on this one, we went away last weekend to a wedding out of state and I'm just now catching up.

Week 2 brought more demolition and removal of the roof.

MONDAY

They moved the trucks in for the big demo and built a box around the gas meter so they don't damage it.

They made a hole in the back to take out the large chimney in the back and removed the windows in the front hall.

TUESDAY

 Chimney up, chimney down!

Front hall there, front hall gone!

 There go the stairs.

The front chimney is almost gone.

Our front door is in our house and there is a hole in my office.

WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday, they took down the back half of the roof off.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY

At the end of the week we were away at a wedding, you'll see more of that when I post Walter's next adventure. When we got back it looked like this.

If you missed it check out last weeks Week 1 post.

Wise Palace Drink Coasters and Ice Ball Mold Review

This week I got to try out Wise Palace's drink coasters and ice ball mold.  I love trying out fun products like these, especially when my kids can test them out with me.

The coasters are dishwasher safe and great for kids because they are flexible and will not break. The ice ball mold came at a great time for us. This weekend my Mom is throwing a bridal shower for my future sister-in-law. We decided to create decorative ice balls with flowers to keep the wine chilled.

The coasters also came with a convenient holder made out of the same material as the coaster, so you could put that through the dishwasher as well.

The ice mold was fun to try. We got some flowers from my Mom's garden and then closed the mold, poured in the water and waited.

Above is our 1st attempt. It is actually much prettier than the picture above. We thought that maybe the flowers were a little small so we tried again with bigger flowers.

One of the flowers was too big so it didn't work but the others came out great. #wisepalace

I would absolutely recommend this product to someone looking to up there entertaining decor. If you are interested in purchasing these coasters and ice ball mold, I have attached a link below, I do receive a small referral fee from any purchases made through this link, this does not affect my reviews.

Disclaimer - I received this product for free in exchange for a honest review.

House Renovation Week 1: Demo Has Started, No Turning Back Now!

It took us about a month of moving out and moving in to my parents house, a street over. We also filled up two storage units to the brim and used a friend of the family's basement. The house is now empty and the demo has begun. There is NO TURNING BACK NOW!

Last Wednesday was the 1st day of demo. Here are some photos of our empty house prior to the demo to give you some perspective on what you are seeing.

WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday they started prepping for the major demo, such as the chimneys coming down and the roof to come off.

They took down the front part of the fence and the wooden stairs.

The deck in the back is now gone.

They started to uncover the chimney that we closed up a few years ago, when we created the office and toy room.

They removed the vanity from the bathroom.

They also completely gutted the front hall.

THURSDAY

The temporary electrical pole was constructed.

They stripped the wall in our living room to expose the front chimney for easier access.

The walls between the office and toy room were completely removed. Now it looks like where we started a few years ago. Check out what it looked like before we did that renovation, Renovation 2014.

FRIDAY

A hole was cut in the back of the house, so that the rear chimney could be removed easier.

The ceiling in our dining room has been removed, that is where the new stairs will go.

It has been a very exciting week, tune in next week for even more demo!!!
