Knitted Sampler Afghan

Ever since I was pregnant with my daughter and took up knitting, I've always had a knitting project to work on. Just recently I finished a project that took me almost a year to finish (mostly because I put it on hold for about 5 months because of finishing my Masters). This knitted afghan is made up of twenty-five squares and five different stitches (Garter Ridge, Seed Stitch, Double Moss Stitch, Basketweave and Reversible Cable). This pattern came from Classic Elite Quick Knits: 100 Fabulous Patterns for Wraps, Socks, Hats, and More, Cozy Blanket. It was supposed to be done in one color but I thought that it would be more interesting in five different colors.

I'm very happy with how it came out and glad to move on to another project.

Updated Night Stands

We are currently redoing our master bedroom. I got these night stand from a yard sale for $10 each. I used Citri-Strip to get the old stain and poly off. This was my first time using Citri-Strip and I thought it worked great, I would recommend it to anyone stripping furniture. Then I sanded, stained, poly-ed and put new hardware on the night stands.

Over-sized Beach Blanket

We are lucky enough to live in walking distance to a park and the beach. Last summer was our first real summer with our daughter at the beach. I quickly realized that taking the stroller to the beach with a couple of towels and some toys, was not really working.

So for this summer we got a wagon to make it easier to haul everything to the beach. And I found this fun beach/picnic blanket tutorial on pinterest, that you make using old towels.

Used old towels to make this huge beach blanket. Add a vinyl tablecloth to the back: blocks sand, doubles as tablecloth. Road trip must-have! ----

I had a lot of old towels that I saved for a crafting. They were pretty heavy towels, so it was a little tough to sew, I actually broke the needle on my sewing machine and had to take the blanket over to my parents house and use my Mom's sewing machine to finish it.

Pinterest Organization: Manual Binder

I always have a hard time finding the right manual I need. Before this redo we kept all our manuals in a filing cabinet and they always got mixed up.

Why don't I already do this? Put User Manuals in a 3 ring binder with their receipts.
