House Renovation Weeks 35, 36, 37 & 38: Floors Finished and Moved In!!!!!

I can't believe I am finally getting to write this post, in my new house. It took us 38 weeks but we are moved in, only a few things left to be finished. We were so busy this past month that I had no time to sit down and write, so here is happened.

Week 35

They installed the floors and sanded them.

Week 36

The floors got stained and polyed.

My Mom and I went in during the weekend and stained the backs of the doors and the railings.

Week 37

While my Mom and I touched up the baseboards in the entire house and polyed the railing, there was a flurry of activity.

The cabinet pulls arrived.

Our small storage unit was emptied, which meant we had our washer/dryer back.

On Tuesday, the refrigerator, stove and sofas were delivered.

On Wednesday, the kitchen counters were installed.

The rest of the week was everyone preparing for the big move on Saturday. Lots of people, putting on door knobs, installing appliances, finishing off the kitchen island, cleaning windows, putting in screens, etc...

Saturday and Sunday was the big move, it took all of the two days and many people helping us to get all our stuff from the big storage unit and my parents house. I could not believe that we owned all that stuff.

Week 38

We started to settle in this week. There were still a few things to finish up this week, such as, a dryer vent, faucets being installed and other odds and ends.

There are still a few things that need to be done, but it really feels good to be in the house. I want to send a huge thank you to my parents who put up with us for 9 months and helped with all the diy projects that we took on (especially my Mom and all the painting). Thanks to all the other people who helped with those projects, so thank you; Butch, Uncle Steve, Zach, Chris, Nana Anne, Richard, Henrietta, Kerry, Brian and Fred. And of course we could not have done any of this without our awesome contractor Jack Picariello. We loved working with him and getting to know him and all of his guys; Rich, Tony, Steve, Rick, Eric and Mark. They all were so nice and did such excellent work. Thank you again to everyone.
